Donnersohn (Donnerhall/Archipel/Gloster)
Donnersohn is a 16.3 hand, fully-approved Hanoverian Stallion by the legendary Donnerhall out of SPS Angelina by Archipel.
Donnersohn was initially purchased by Saxony Farm in 2001 as a yearling from Joerg Clasen of Hof Clasen in Verden. Donnersohn was bred by Christy Horton of Woodinville, WA and is the product of her favorite mare, SPS Angelina and her favorite stallion, Donnerhall. Our initial plan was to buy Donnersohn as resale prospect but it became obvious very quickly that he was a very special horse and he would be staying on with us here at Saxony Farm.
In 2003 Donnersohn was presented for licensing to the American Hanoverian Society and became one of only two stallions to be licensed for breeding that year. The following fall he successfully completed the 100-day-test and at that point obtained his lifetime breeding license.
Upon returning home to New Hampshire, he went into training with Doris Carlson of Morning Light Farm of Brimfield Massachusetts and their partnership continues today. Together they have competed successfully through the levels with many wins and placings from First through Third Level. Most recently they became the 2007 NEDA Champions at Third Level. They will be debuting at Fourth Level/Prix St. George during the 2009 Show season.
Donnersohn has been very successful in the breeding shed producing foals who are people-oriented, highly trainable with good movement.
COMPETITION HIGHLIGHTS:
In 2008 Donnersohn competed at Third Level with scores to 70%. and was named NEDA Third Level Champion.
In 2007 Donnersohn competed at Second Level with scores consistently in the mid to high 60’s and finished the year in third place for the NEDA Year End Awards for Second Level.
In 2006 Donnersohn completed his first full year of under saddle competition competing at First Level with scores to 70%. He was consistent throughout the year rarely finishing out of the top 3 or 4 in all of his classes. His year culminated at the NEDA Fall Festival where he was named the First Level Sweepstakes Champion.
2003 and Prior. Numerous top level placings while being shown in-hand including a first place finish at the Prestigious Dressage At Devon for 3 year old colts and geldings.
